MTSU hosts Georgia State on Saturday, Bellarmine on Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After a thrilling victory against Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee women's tennis hosts Georgia State on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. and Bellarmine on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.
The Blue Raiders are coming off their first win of the season, which came on Jan. 22 against Austin Peay at the Adams Tennis Complex. The match started off with a doubles win from Love-Star Alexis and Rutuja Chaphalkar. MTSU secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory from Sana Garakani and Noelle Mauro.
In singles, Mauro followed her doubles win with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 win to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. The Governors took a point on court No. 3. Alexis gave MTSU the third point of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court No. 1. Austin Peay won on courts No. 2 and 6 to tie it at three all. The match would be decided on court No. 4.
Lilly-Sophie Schmidt fell in the first set 5-7. Schmidt would fight back to win the second set 6-3. The third set would go to a tiebreak. The junior from Schriesheim, Germany started the tiebreak down 3-5. Schmidt won the next four points to secure the match win for the Blue Raiders.
Match Four: Georgia State (0-1, 0-0 SBC) vs. Middle Tennessee (1-2, 0-0 C-USA)

- Saturday's matchup will be the ninth meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders lead the series 7-1.

Scouting the Panthers
- Georgia State return five players from last year's squad. The returners combined for 32 singles wins. In doubles, the team in 2022 combined for 33 wins.
- Chivu, the No. 1 court, and Stanescu, the No. 3 court, return for the Panthers.
