Blue Raiders move to 4-0 in the fall

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball won its fall exhibition game against Trevecca Nazarene University 9-0 Saturday afternoon at Blue Raider Softball Field.
"Our pitchers pitched well today, and we finally got our short game going and were able to have a big inning in the fifth," Head Coach Jeff Breeden said.
Trevecca threatened to score early in the game getting bases loaded but the defense held to keep the game scoreless in the first inning.
After four scoreless innings, the Blue Raiders scored eight in the fifth inning. Ava Tepe started the inning off with a double and came around to score. Lexi Medlock, Shelby Sargent, Amaya Harris, Ansley Blevins and Claire Czajkowski would all pick up an RBI to make it 8-0.
MTSU scored a late insurance run to increase the lead to nine in the ninth inning.
Jesyne Espinal made her second start of the fall in the circle for the Blue Raiders. The freshman went four scoreless innings before Mary Martinez took over in the fifth. Martinez went four innings to keep the Trojans scoreless.
Kamryn Carcich entered the game in the ninth inning and kept Trevecca without a run to hold on for a 9-0 win.
