DALLAS – Middle Tennessee Basketball's Elias King has been named Conference USA Player of the Week, and Chris Loofe was named Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
It is the second week in a row Loofe has won the conference's Freshman of the Week accolade. King meanwhile earned his first Player of the Week award across his career in Murfreesboro, after being named to the Preseason All-CUSA team ahead of this year.
King set career-highs in points twice this past week, scoring 22 points against Missouri State Dec. 5 and 27 points against Belmont Dec. 9. The senior guard's scoring output Saturday represents the most points scored in a game by a Blue Raider all season. Across both matchups this week, the Atlanta, Ga. native shot a combined 11-20 from 3-point range.
Loofe meanwhile set career-highs in points (12) and minutes (22) while equaling a personal best in rebounds (five) against Belmont.
The Blue Raiders are next in action Dec. 19 at Saint Mary's in Moraga, Calif. A 9:00 p.m. tip is scheduled, with the game to be broadcast on ESPN+.
