Coming off a CUSA title in 2023, MTSU will open the season at the NorCal Kickoff from Feb. 9-11 in Sacramento, Calif. A week later, the Blue Raiders will visit Fort Myers, Fla. for the FGCU Invitational from Feb. 16-18. Madeira Beach, Fla. will be next on Middle Tennessee's calendar when it travels for the Spring Games on Feb. 23-25.
Breeden's team will then head to Martin, Tenn. for their first midweek game with UT Martin on Feb. 28 before hosting the MTSU Invitational on March 1-3.
"We have set a preconference schedule that allows us the opportunity to play a host of different division 1 conferences across the US. We feel we will be tested and ready for a completive year in Conference USA," said Breeden.
The Blue Raiders will host conference foes LA Tech, FIU, Liberty and New Mexico State in 2024.
During home weekend series in 2024, Friday first pitches will be set for 6 p.m., Saturday games will commence at 4 p.m. and Sunday series finales will get underway at noon.
"We are looking forward to the 2024 season starting with the goal to repeat as Champions in CUSA," said Breeden.
In addition to CUSA road series at UTEP, Jacksonville State, Sam Houston and Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee will also visit Lipscomb for a midweek contest this season. MTSU will also host Detroit Mercy, South Dakota, Austin Peay and Tennessee State for midweek games at Blue Raider Softball Field.
After Middle Tennessee closes the regular season at home on May 3-5 with New Mexico State, the CUSA Tournament is slated for May 8-11 in Las Cruces, N.M.
Breeden returns for his 12th season as head coach in 2024 after the best season in program history a year ago. Middle Tennessee also welcomes two new members of its coaching staff, Gretchen Mead and Bryce Brentz. Mead, a 2023 graduate, was part of the historic season a year ago and joins Breeden for her first season as a coach. Brentz, a 2020 Blue Raider Sports Hall of Fame inductee, starts his coaching career under Breeden this season.
The Blue Raiders will return 17 players from last year's roster along with four newcomers, including two from the transfer portal.
