Lady Raiders Look to Bounce Back Saturday at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO—No. 21/23 Middle Tennessee women's basketball looks to start another winning streak Saturday when it concludes its Texas road trip against UTSA at 2 p.m.
The Lady Raiders (18-3, 11-1 C-USA) continue to hold Conference USA's best record and sit in the 24th spot in the NET rankings as of Feb. 3. Earlier this season, MTSU cruised past UTSA 80-41 Jan. 5 at the Murphy Center.
Saturday's game will air on the Blue Raider Network and ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 21/23 Middle Tennessee women's basketball saw its 16 game winning streak come to an end Thursday night against UTEP by a score of 65-62.
Neither team held a lead of more than nine points throughout the game. Trailing by seven at the 4:27 mark in the fourth, a 9-2 Lady Raider run, which included big shots from Alexis Whittington and Jalynn Gregory, tied the game at 62-all with a minute on the clock. UTEP's (14-6, 7-4 C-USA) Jazion Jackson's game-winning shot fell in with .4 seconds remaining to sink MTSU (18-3, 11-1 C-USA) for the first time in conference play.
Gregory and Courtney Whitson led an attack of 11 3-pointers beyond the arc for the Lady Raiders. Whitson's 18 points came on six first half 3s while Gregory hit three treys and finished with a team-high 20 points. Kseniya Malashka scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished four assists and recorded two steals.

LADY RAIDER NOTES
- For the second consecutive week, Middle Tennessee was ranked in the AP poll, moving up two spots to No. 21 in the poll Jan. 30. The Lady Raiders also cracked the Top 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll at No. 23 in the Jan. 31 poll.
- The Lady Raiders rank 19th nationally and lead C-USA in field goal percentage defense, holding teams to 35.4 percent shooting. In overall scoring defense, Middle Tennessee's opponents are scoring just 54.9 points per game, which ranks 20th in the country and first in the conference.
- Courtney Whitson reached 200 career 3-pointers in her six-3-pointer game Thursday at UTEP. Her 203 career treys is sixth on the program's all-time list.
- Jalynn Gregory has five 20-plus point games this season. All five have come on the road.
- Middle Tennessee leads all of Conference USA and ranks 10th in the nation with a 18.7 scoring margin.
- MTSU is 99-32 after a loss under Rick Insell.
- Since playing in Murfreesboro Jan. 5, UTSA is 2-7, including losses in four of its last five contests. The Roadrunners battled vs. WKU Thursday night but fell 67-73.
- UTSA's strength is around the rim where the Roadrunners lead C-USA in both rebound margin (6.5) and blocks per game (4.4).
- Opponents are scoring a league-high 68.8 points per game against UTSA while the Roadrunners average 63.7 points per game.
- Jordyn Jenkins has been one of the top players in the conference this season as she leads the league in points per game (19.7) and ranks in the top five of several other categories. Kyra White is averaging 4.5 assists per game.
- Middle Tennessee has never lost in nine meetings vs. the Roadrunners.
