MTSU completes comeback against Chattanooga

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis defeats Chattanooga 4-3 on Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex.
HEAD COACH TAYO BAILEY-DUVALL
"The girls showed great fight today, which seems to be common in our close matches this season. We expect them to go out and win every match. Even if we do not start great, we know it is not over until it is over."
The Mocs took the doubles point winning on court No. 1 and 3.
Love-Star Alexis won 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 1 to tie things up at one all. The Mocs took a point on court No.2. Lilly-Sophie Schmidt continued her impressive run in singles this season with a 6-4, 7-5 victory, her sixth singles win of the season. On court No. 5, Noelle Mauro battled hard but came up just short. Muskan Gupta picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (2) victory to tie it at three all. All eyes would turn to court No. 6. Freshman Rutuja Chaphalkar secured the win for MTSU defeating her UTC opponent 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
SENIOR LOVE-STAR ALEXIS
"It was a nice win. Last year, we lost against them 4-3. I am glad we got our revenge. Rutuja got her first clinching match. I am really proud of how she saved some really crucial points in the second set of her match. In her tiebreak, she was able to keep calm. You can really see the growth there."
