Blue Raiders complete comeback to move on to Quarterfinals of the C-USA Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — 7-seed Middle Tennessee women's tennis fights back down 3-1 to defeat the 10-seed WKU 4-3 on Thursday, April 20 in Denton, Texas to advance to the quarterfinal of the C-USA Championship.
The Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point winning on court No. 1 and 2. On court No. 1, Love-Star Alexis and Muskan Gupta picked up a 6-3 win. Sana Garakani and Noelle Mauro secured the doubles point for MTSU winning 6-2 on court No. 2.
To start off singles, the Lady Toppers took a point on court No. 2 to tie it up at 1-1. WKU would then win the next two singles on court No. 6 and 3 to take a 3-1 lead. Alexis tallied the first singles win for the Blue Raiders winning 6-3, 6-3 on court No. 1. On court No. 4, Mauro would tie the match at 3-3 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
All eyes were on court No. 5. Lilly-Sophie Schmidt fell in the first set 6-4. She would fight to the second set 7-6 (7). In the third set, Schmidt won 6-1 clinching the win for MTSU.

"I am so proud of the fight we showed today. I am particularly Lilly-Sophie for winning with the match on the line. We came out strong in doubles, which we really needed in hindsight. We are battle tough, and today, we are winners again. We are looking forward to Charlotte tomorrow. They are a really good team. We have competed well against some really tough teams this year. Tomorrow, we look to finally come out on top."
