MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — No. 28-ranked Middle Tennessee men's tennis has earned the 2-seed in the Starkville Regional in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and will take on No. 42 Tulane in the first round.
The first round match against Tulane will be played on Friday, May at 11 a.m. CT.
"It's always nice to see our name in the NCAA bracket," said MTSU Assistant Coach Andrea Caligiana. "The Starkville region is a strong one and we've been there many times over the last few years. We are very excited to go there because we want to get revenge. We're excited for it."
The Blue Raiders will be joined by the 1-seed/No. 16 Mississippi State, 3-seed/No. 42 Tulane and 4-seed Alabama State. On Jan. 22, MTSU played at Mississippi State and fell short 5-2. The Blue Raiders faced Tulane twice this season splitting the matches.
"We are extremely proud," said graduate student Francisco Rocha. "This is what we work for the entire year. Our beginning goal of the year was to make the Sweet 16. Now we got a chance to see the teams that we have to face in order for it to happen. It's a proud moment for all of us because we want to represent this school so well."
This will be MTSU's fourth straight NCAA Team Tournament appearance and their 15th all-time. The Blue Raiders have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament three times including last season at the Raleigh Regional.
