Mealer named All-Conference First Team

RUSTON, La. – Middle Tennessee softball (34-17, 13-10 C-USA) had six athletes named to C-USA All-Conference teams, announced by the league office Tuesday, May 9.
Laura Mealer was named to the All-Conference First Team as an infielder. Mealer led C-USA in almost every major hitting category as a sophomore this season. The Chapel Hill, Tennessee native led in batting average (.402), slugging percentage (.720), on base percentage (.487), runs scored (58), hits (66) and RBI (47).
Earning All-Conference Second Team honors, Shelby Echols and Julia Garcia claimed two of the infield spots, while Amaya Harris claimed an outfield spot. Gretchen Mead represented MTSU as the only Blue Raider pitcher named to an All-Conference team.
Ansley Blevins earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team list. Blevins had an impressive first year batting .222 with five home runs, including the go-ahead homer in the regular season finale on Sunday, and five doubles.

MTSU will be in Ruston, Louisiana for the Conference USA Championship as a six seed. Game one will be on Wednesday, May 10 against host Louisiana Tech at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.
