PHOENIX – Middle Tennessee Baseball product Jeremiah Boyd has been signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent.
Boyd—a graduate student in 2023—is the third Blue Raider from this past season to be either drafted or signed by a professional organization, after RHPs Eriq Swan and Jaden Hamm were each selected in the MLB Draft on Monday.
The native of Harrisburg, N.C. transferred to Middle Tennessee to finish his college baseball career after spending four years at Presbyterian College.
Boyd played in 55 of the Blue Raiders' 56 games in 2023, all coming as starts. The squad's primary option at the designated hitter spot, the 5-10 slugger also had eight starts at catcher.
A .295 hitter during the season, Boyd's .903 OPS led the team. He also had team-highs in home runs (13), multi-RBI games (13) and slugging percentage (.514) among qualifying players.
In addition to earning Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors on April 24, Boyd was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and was a Second Team Academic All-American.
