MTSU hosts Liberty on Friday and Saturday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team will welcome the Liberty Flames to Murfreesboro on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30. The Friday match will be at 6 p.m. CT and the Saturday match will be at 2 p.m. CT. Both matches will be live streamed on ESPN+ and have live stats to follow along.
The Blue Raiders will have their first matches of the 2023 season at home. MTSU will look to bounce back from falling short twice against New Mexico State last weekend. The Blue Raiders are second in conference in hitting percentage with a .276 hitting percentage.
Graduate student Kaylee Oscarson leads CUSA in hitting percentage with a .415 hitting percentage. Oscarson has totaled 114 kills so far this season. Senior Taylor Eisert broke the program record of career assists in the 25-point era. She has 2,883 career assists. Eisert is first in conference in assists per set earning 11.04 per set. Redshirt senior Kayla Henley leads the team in kills with 160 tallying 3.33 per set.
Scouting the Liberty Flames
Liberty is 7-5 so far this season and has yet to play a conference match. This is Liberty's first season in CUSA. In the last match, the Flames fell to Old Dominion 3-2. The team returns 12 players from last season. The Flames added three transfers and two freshmen.
On offense, senior Kamryn Bacus leads the team in kills with 142 earning 4.18 per set. Senior Delaney Dilfer has 376 assists.
On defense, the Flames lead the conference in blocks with the help of junior Madison Blane. Blane has tallied 62 total blocks averaging 1.41 per set. Senior Erica Lowery has recorded 110 digs.
The series is tied 1-1. The last meeting was in 2016 with the Flames winning 3-0.

This season, she is a two-time CUSA Setter of the Week. Eisert was tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week on 9/12. She leads conference in assists per set with 11.04.
- Henley has recorded 971 kills in her career and is 29 away from 1000.
