Women's Tennis uses Summer Circuit to build off Spring Play

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Coming off a season in which the women finished undefeated at home, the Middle Tennessee women's tennis team current roster haven't slowed down on the summer circuit. Goblueraiders.com has put together a notebook of all the happenings from over the summer. Listed below are everyone's accomplishments from the current roster.

Women's Tennis Current Roster:
Cassidy Mataia: The Georgia Gwinnett transfer competed in the 20k QLD open state championships in her native Australia and made it to the semis in doubles play and was a quarterfinal qualifier in singles play. At the ITF 15k, Mataia was a quarterfinal doubles qualifier for the first time ever made it to the semifinals in singles play.
Lilly-Sophie Schmidt: Played in Germany for a pair of women's teams and in the National women's tournament where the rising senior picked right up where she left off at the end of her junior season. Her first women's team won the season and got into the second highest German League while her second team got second in their group with Schmidt playing in the number one singles spot. At the National Women's Tournament, Schmidt defeated a number one seed as an unseeded player in the quarterfinals of singles play and won a total of four matches before falling in the semifinals against the over-30 women's world champion.
Hrudaya Shah: The newest Blue Raider, a transfer from Tyler Junior College, received the Arthur Ashe Jr Leadership and Sportsmanship Award from the ITA. The award is presented to the men's and women's national student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
