MTSU Drops Match to WKU 3-1

Blue Raiders take first set WKU has lost in conference play this season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Middle Tennessee volleyball fell to Western Kentucky by a score of 1-3 in match two of the two-match series. Prior to tonight, the Hilltoppers had not lost a set in conference play (sixth match) and it is their first set dropped since Sept. 14. The scores of the sets were as follows: 16-25, 14-25, 25-22 and 16-25.
The Blue Raiders (6-12, 2-4) did not play at their best for the first two sets but found their groove in sets three and four, hitting .275. The Hilltoppers (13-6, 6-0) hit an outstanding .386 on the match which was too much for the Blue Raiders to overcome. Both teams struggled serving tonight with MTSU recording three services aces and nine errors and WKU tallied two service aces and 12 errors.
Freshman Emma Nilson had a terrific night, leading the team with 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage. Nilson also tallied four blocks, again leading the team. Senior Laure Jansen recorded 17 digs, maintaining her lead in Conference USA. Outside hitter Adriana Rhoda recorded back-to-back service aces in the fourth set to keep the Blue Raiders in the match, with those two service aces leading the team.

The Blue Raiders will be back at home this weekend, Oct. 12 and 13, hosting Jacksonville State. The matches are scheduled for 6:00 and 2:00 p.m. CT, respectively. The matches will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found at Stat Broadcast.
