Blue Raiders open Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off against Purdue

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Middle Tennessee will open the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off on Thanksgiving Day against Purdue at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and broadcast on the Women's Sports Network.

SERIES HISTORY
» This marks the first meeting in series history between the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and Purdue Boilermakers.

» Middle Tennessee will take on Purdue on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 3:30 a.m. (CT) at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
» This will mark the first meeting in series history between the Blue Raiders and Boilermakers. MTSU is 7-9 all-time against teams in the current Big 10.
» The Blue Raiders are 83-65 all-time in in-season tournaments and are 23-12 under Head Coach Rick Insell in in-season tournaments
» Middle Tennessee is coming off of an 80-54 win over Florida A&M. Anastasiia Boldyreva led the way with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting, with seven rebounds and a block.
» The Blue Raiders return 10 players, including three starters, from the 2023-24 squad that went 30-5 and won the CUSA regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
» Middle Tennessee will play a tough non-conference slate highlighted neutral sites matchups with Iowa State, Kansas State and Purdue, and a trip down I-40 to take on the Tennessee Lady Vols. The Blue Raiders will face eight teams that finished in the top 150 of the NET Rankings last season, including seven that finished in the top 100 and four that finished in the top 40 before heading into league play.
» Head Coach Rick Insell has led the Lady Raiders to 17 consecutive post-seasons. He has tallied a 468-157 record at his alma mater.
SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
» The Boilermakers will play their 11th game on Thanksgiving and the first since an 85-63 win over Harvard at the Cancun Challenge in 2022. Purdue is 7-3 all-time on Thanksgiving.
» Purdue enters the week on a three-game winning streak. The Boilermakers have averaged 78 points per game during the streak, while holding opponents to 62 per game. Reagan Bass has scored in double figures all three contests (19 PPG) and posted a pair of double-doubles.
» Lana McCarthy was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the first time. The Bedford, N.H., native averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds over wins against Bellarmine and UT Arlington while shooting 61% from the field.
» McCarthy is one of eight freshmen nationally averaging over 11 points and seven rebounds per game, joining Michigan's Syla Swords as the Big Ten's only reps.
» The Boilermakers have jumped in the passing lanes this season two games of 10 steals or more. Purdue is scoring just under 19 points per game off turnovers. McCarthy is averaging 23.8 points and 14.9 rebounds per 40 minutes.
» Regan Bass recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the first time by at Purdue since Jeanae Terry during the 2021-22 season.
» Bass has made an immediate impact this season for Purdue, leading the team in scoring (15.2 PPG), rebounding (7.6 RPG) and blocks (7). She is one of six players from the Big Ten averaging over 15 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
» Purdue's newcomers carried the load this season with 75% of the scoring, 89% of the rebounding and 66% of assists.
