MIAMI, Fla. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team (9-10, 5-4 CUSA) ended its 2024 campaign, along with its run in the CUSA Tournament, with a 2-0 loss to the host FIU Panthers (11-5-2, 6-1-2 CUSA) in Miami, Fla.
The Blue Raiders were able to create scoring opportunities during the opening 45 minutes but failed to convert in front of the FIU goal. Forwards Lexi Dendis and Taijah Fraser.
FIU's Catherine Rapp opened the game's scoring account with her third goal of the season in the 25th minute of the match, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead with just under 15 minutes until the intermission.
Due to an injury from midfielder Megan Carroll, and without Risui Arasaki featuring in the starting XI, head coach Aston Rhoden was forced to test his squad's depth in the early going. The scoreline would hold at 1-0 to the home side heading into the halftime break.
The offensive struggles continued into the second half for the Blue Raiders, as FIU ramped up its pressure on both ends of the pitch. CUSA Player of the Year Noemi Paquin scored her 15th goal of the season in the 77th minute of the match to double the Panthers' advantage, as Middle Tennessee's season would end in a semifinal, 2-0 loss in Miami.
