Track and Field set for Indoor CUSA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will be back in action this weekend on Feb. 23-24 for the Conference USA Indoor Championships. The meet will be in Lynchburg, Va. at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track starting at 9:00 a.m. CT.
After taking home both CUSA Cross Country titles in the fall, coach Keith Vroman's team aims for two more team championships while competing in a number of events for individual gold medals.

The meet will be televised on ESPN+ both Friday and Saturday, with live coverage scheduled for Friday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday from 2:00-6 p.m.
Results and highlights will be posted throughout the day on the Blue Raider Track and Field X/Twitter feed (@MT_TrackField).
Meet Schedule
Friday's action will start at 9 a.m. CT with combined events with field and track events to follow. Saturday will get started at 9:30 a.m. CT. again with combined events and field and track events following.

Last Time Out – Darius Dixon Invitational
Freshman Odilia Jepchumba set a new school record in the women's 3,000-meter race running a 9:17.27s in her first-place finish. Faith Nyathi placed second in the same race, also beating the previous school record. It was a record set in 2020 by Joice Jebor, who ran a time of 9:28.65s.
Men's Top Performances
· Brian Kiptoo placed third in the 3,000-meter with a personal best 8:02.19s time.
· Freshman Sammy Sang placed first with a personal best in the 3000-meter seeded finals with a 8:24.46s time.
· Joel Iheakolam placed second in the Triple Jump with a mark of 15.25m for a new personal best.
·Carmelo Cannizzaro placed third in the 1000-meter with a 2:27.63s time. He also ran a personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 1:52.79.
Women's Top Performances
· Lyn'Nikka Vance placed second in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.93m
· Freshman Sammy Sang placed first with a personal best in the 3000-meter seeded finals with a 8:24.46s time.
· Joel Iheakolam placed second in the Triple Jump with a mark of 15.25m for a new personal best.
