Lady Raiders defeat Bearkats 93-62 on senior day

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Thanks to a red-hot shooting performance, Middle Tennessee defeated Sam Houston 93-62 on Saturday afternoon at the Murphy Center.
The Lady Raiders (24-4, 14-0 CUSA) and Bearkats (7-19, 2-12 CUSA) opened the game strong offensively, with MTSU leading by just one halfway through the first quarter. The Lady Raiders started clicking defensively and took a 22-14 lead into the second. Ta'Mia Scott and Anastasiia Boldyreva took over the second period, scoring 16 of MTSU's 21 points in the frame to extend its lead to 43-30 at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the two squads traded blows in the third, however, an 18-0 run to open the fourth quarter allowed Middle Tennessee to pull away. The Lady Raiders would go on to win 93-62, sending the seniors out with a win.
Ta'Mia Scott led all scorers with 26 points, four assists and four steals. She was followed by Jalynn Gregory with 21 points, Anastasiia Boldyreva with 16 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks, and Savannah Wheeler with 15 points and eight assists.
By the Numbers
19: The Lady Raiders tallied 19 assists on the afternoon – just shy of their season-high 22, previously set against the Bearkats.
42-22: Middle Tennessee logged 42 points in the paint compared to Sam Houston's 22.
19: MTSU was dominant in transition on the afternoon, scoring 19 points on fast breaks while holding Sam Houston scoreless in transition buckets.
Lady Raider Notes
• Graduates Courtney Whitson and Savannah Wheeler were honored post-game for senior night, as well as, manager/practice players Victor Barney, Jaylan Tate and Sean Ware.
• Ta'Mia Scott tied her career high in scoring with 26 points on the afternoon. She previously logged 26 against FIU and WKU.
• Double Digits: Wheeler logged her 112th career double-digit scoring performance, while Whitson notched her 67th, Boldyreva posted her 37th and Scott tallied her 16th.
