Blue Raiders defeat No. 23 Memphis and Alabama A&M in Sunday Doubleheader

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee men's tennis welcomed No. 23 Memphis and Alabama A&M to the Outdoor Tennis Facility on Sunday, March 31. MTSU outlasted Memphis 4-3 and defeated Alabama A&M 6-1.
The Blue Raiders earned their fourth ranked win and second top-25 victory of the season.
The Tigers took the doubles point with wins on court No. 2 and No. 3. On court No. 1, Ondrej Horak and Leo Raquin defeated No. 34 Pablo Alemany and Charlie Barry 6-3.
In singles, Demis Taramonlis tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win against Rock on court No. 3 to tie the score at one all. No. 32 Leo Raquin earned his eighth ranked win of the season defeating No. 64 Pablo Alemany 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 on court No. 1. Shu Matsuoka won 6-3, 7-5 on court No. 4 against Fanlo. On court No. 6, Javier Cueto Ramos clinched the win for the Blue Raiders winning 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2).
For the second match of the day, MTSU secured the doubles point winning on court No. 1 and No. 2. Horak and Raquin picked up a 6-2 victory over N'Tcha and Lawrence. On court No. 2, Karim Al-Amin and Shu Matsuoka claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 win against Chih Lan and Amadike.
To begin singles play, Al-Amin blanked Mashego 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 6. Raquin won 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 1 against N'Tcha to give MTSU a 3-0 lead.
