Blue Raiders defeat Sam Houston 4-1 on Senior Day

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis hosted conference foe Sam Houston at the Outdoor Tennis Facility on Saturday, April 13 for Senior Day. MTSU tallied a 4-1 victory over the Bearkats.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point with wins on court No. 3 and No. 2. Hrudaya Shah and Ilaria Sposetti won by forfeit on court No.3. Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Eloise Swarbrick claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Cerda and Fenieys.
To begin singles play, Rutuja Chaphalkar and Cara Szilasi won by forfeit on courts No. 5 and No. 6 to give MTSU a 3-0 lead. The Bearkats earned a win on court No. 1 by default. Lena Peyer clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Sechi. Schmidt and Sposetti won their first set and was up in their second set but finished unfinished.
