Spring game set for April 13 at 1 PM
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The MTSU football program held its draft earlier this morning to set the teams for the upcoming Blue-White Game schedule for April 13. The game will kickoff at 1 PM inside Floyd Stadium and is free to the public.
The Blue team has the first overall pick and went with veteran signal-caller Nicholas Vattiato who is coming off a career-best season for the Blue Raiders. In all, the Blue squad has six returning starters from last year, including tight end Holden Willlis, to go with 21 total returning lettermen along with veteran newcomers Omari Kelly and Brendan Harris.
The White team counters with three returning starters, including center Julius Pierce up front and 28 total lettermen. CUSA All-Freshman lineman Mateo Guevara will help anchor a strong line for the team to go with running back Jaiden Credle and standout defensive players Devyn Curtis, Drew Francis and Damonte Smith.
"The draft was very exciting and our honorary captains did a phenomenal job picking the teams," said Head Coach Derek Mason. "It's two equally matched teams and will be fun to watch for our fans. The energy in the locker room this morning was ecstatic, and the guys are truly ready to play. We can't wait for next Saturday."
The home team will be the Blue squad while the White team will serve as the visitors. The game will consist of four, fifteen-minute quarters with a continuous running clock except for the final two minutes of each half.
The Blue coaching staff will consist of guest head coach Robert Frazier (MTSU, 1984-85), Bryce Lewis, Cornelius Williams, Vernon Hargreaves, Kendall Simmons, Cam Curtis, Coley Crowley, Josh Wegrzyn and Bret Smith, while the White staff will include guest head coach Brent Bush (MTSU, 1981-84), A.J. Reisig, Joe Ganz, Calvin Lowry, Josh Smith, Max Arnold, Baer Hunter, Tyler Monaco and Jack McAlpin.
Offensive Coordinator Bodie Reeder and Defensive Coordinator Brian Stewart will call plays for both teams. Special Teams Coordinator Luke Paschall will handle both teams as well on the field.
Starting at noon on gameday, Blue Raider fans will be able to visit Lightning's Locker Room, located at Gate 2A. They will feature new gear and a large selection of clearance items. Nashville Super Speedway will also be onsite with the pace car for fan photos and giveaways.
Blue Raider Ticket Office and BRAA staff will be on hand to answer questions and renew/purchase 2024 Football Season Tickets and premium seating options. The first 500 fans who purchase/renew their Season Tickets on or before April 13th, will be eligible to receive an exclusive 40oz Stainless Steel MTSU Football Tumbler (one per account). Tumblers will only be available for pickup at the Blue & White game.
To showcase football gameday amenities, the Blue Raider Beer Garden and Family Fun Zone will be available for fans to enjoy. Table of Cuba, Creative Culinary Creations, Meat Sweats BBQ and limited concession stand offerings will be available on the concourse.
