Blue Raiders drop midweek matchup to Commodores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee fell to Vanderbilt 14-1 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores (26-7) struck first in the opening frame, plating seven runs. In the second inning, the Blue Raiders (11-20) responded with a Cale Vinson solo shot to left field, however, Vanderbilt answered with a trio of runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 10-1 lead. The Commodores would go on to add three runs in the third and another in the sixth to win 14-1
On the mound, Kota Sato (0-2) was tabbed with the loss, while Alex Kranzler (1-1) earned the win for the Commodores.
By the Numbers
3: Cale Vinson had a day at the plate for the Blue Raiders. The sophomore went 3-for-3 at the plate with a singles, double and home run.
2: Jackson Underwood provided promise out of the Blue Raider bullpen. The sophomore pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, giving up just a pair of hits and ringing up a pair of Commodores.
1: Eston Snider logged the Blue Raiders lone other hit on the day – a single to center field.
