Middle Tennessee Takes on Louisiana and Tennessee Tech in Matchweek Two

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team continues its non-conference slate with a trip to Lafayette, La. as they take on the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, followed by a return home to face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Sunday.
History vs. Louisiana
The Blue Raiders are 10-2-1 vs. Louisiana all-time with their previous outing coming in a 1-1 draw in last season's home opener. After dropping each of the first two matches against the Ragin Cajuns, Middle Tennessee has won 10 of the last 11 meetings dating back to the 2003 season.
History vs. Tennessee Tech
MTSU boasts an all-time record of 7-2-1 against the Golden Eagles. Last season, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee Tech played to a 2-2 draw at Tech Soccer Field in Cookeville, Tenn.
About Middle Tennessee
In the season opener vs. Belmont on Sunday, junior forward Emma Pettersen scored the season's opening goal in the 21st minute, coming off build-up play from midfielders Risui Arasaki and Manon Lebargy. That goal marked the sixth of Pettersen's career, and the first and sixth career assist for Arasaki and Lebargy.
Middle Tennessee finished the 90 minutes vs. the Bruins with the goal from Petterson, on 17 total shots, including six on frame. Goalkeeper Demi Gronauer capped off her first career outing with three saves. Taijah Fraser and Arasaki each recorded a pair of attempts on goal, with Idun Kvaale and Petterson each adding one.
About Louisiana
The Ragin Cajuns currently sit at 1-0-1 through the opening week of the season. They opened the new year with a 2-1 win over McNeese on the road on Aug. 15. That result was followed by a scoreless draw against Louisiana Tech in their home opener on Aug. 18.
Freshman forward Adeline Nemeth and senior midfielder Mariella Stephens have featured as the Ragin Cajuns' two goalscorers thus far in 2024, both contributing to the win over McNeese.
About Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles began their 2024 season with a 3-1 loss to the Samford Bulldogs on Aug. 15. They followed that performance with a 2-2 result in their home opener against Miami (Ohio).
Sophomore Neve Renwick features as the Golden Eagles leading scorer through the opening two games of the season with a goal against both Samford and Miami (Ohio). Sophomore midfielder Cheyenne McCloud also got on the scoresheet against the Redhawks.
Prior to their meeting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee Tech will host Saint Mary's on Aug. 22.
Kick off times for this week's matches are set for 7 P.M. CT on Thursday vs. Louisiana at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex in Lafayette, La. and 5 P.M. CT on Sunday vs. Tennessee Tech at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
