MTSU Falls to Utah Tech in CofC Invitational Opener

Blue Raiders lose 2-3 against Utah Tech
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Middle Tennessee volleyball dropped the opening match of the College of Charleston Invitational in a battle vs. Utah Tech. The Blue Raiders and the Trailblazers went back and forth with the match coming down to a fifth set, but the Trailblazers prevailed. The set scores were as follows: 25-18, 22-25, 24-26, 25-23 and 6-15.
MTSU (2-5, 0-0) were unable to overcome their 45 hitting errors as Utah Tech (5-1, 0-0) recorded just 38 hitting errors. Both teams recorded low hitting percentages with MTSU having the slightly better one of .148 to Utah Tech's .129. A problem that plagued the Blue Raiders in their first few matches, they were able to minimize as they recorded a service aces to service errors ratio of 7:13. Alivia Bronner was incredible serving the ball as she had four service aces.
Outside hitter Adriana Rhoda led the team in kills with 22. Four Blue Raiders recorded double-digit digs in Alivia Bronner, Laure Jansen, Ally Magre, and Andi Spies, with Jansen leading them with an outstanding 28 digs. Freshman Andi Spies made her presence felt with 40 assists and three blocks.
