Blue Raiders Drop Final Match of CofC Invitational, Rhoda Named to All-Tournament Team

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Middle Tennessee volleyball came up just short in a thrilling match at Charleston on Saturday, Sept. 13. It was a back-and-forth match throughout all four sets, but the Blue Raiders fell short in the fourth and final set. The scores of the sets were as follows: 21-25, 25-18, 21-25 and 22-25.
Junior Adriana Rhoda was named to the College of Charleston Invitational All-Tournament Team after her outstanding weekend. Across the three matches, Rhoda recorded 59 kills on an elite .333 hitting percentage. To go along with her offensive performance, she tallied five blocks. In the Blue Raider's victory over Robert Morris, the Hutchinson, Minn. native recorded 20 kills on a ridiculous .485 hitting percentage.
The Blue Raiders (3-6, 0-0) had too many errors to overcome as they had 50 on the match. The Cougars were able to capitalize on those errors as they had only 37 of their own. Both teams had very low hitting percentages with Charleston having the slightly better one of .163 to MTSU's .130. Throughout the season, the Blue Raiders have struggled with serving, but those problems were not present tonight as they recorded an outstanding 10 service aces. Laure Jansen and Allyson Eckel led the team with three each.

Junior Trae McCutchan had her best performance of the season recording a season-high 12 kills to go along with two blocks. Freshman Aowyn Schrader had her best performance of her career thus far putting up nine kills. Senior Laure Jansen had an outstanding game defensively recording 24 digs on an elite 6.00 digs/set.
