Blue Raiders lose 2-3 to UVA in second match of two-match series
CHARLOTTESVILLE, S.C. — Middle Tennessee volleyball dropped the second match of the two-match series at Virginia. After going up 2-1 in an eventful third set, the Hoos took the fourth set in commanding fashion and finished the job from there. The scores of the sets were as follows: 25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 12-25 and 6-15.
MTSU (3-8, 0-0) started out the game hot, but by the end of the match their hitting percentage landed under .100 which was too much to overcome vs. Virginia (10-1, 0-0). The problem that has plagued the Blue Raiders thus far this season, service errors, was not present tonight as the Blue Raiders recorded an amazing six service errors to seven service aces. All seven of the service aces came in the first three sets. Both Kiera Booth and Ally Magre tallied two aces.
Three Blue Raiders recorded 12 kills with them being, Kiera Booth, Adriana Rhoda and Aowyn Schrader. Booth led the group in hitting percentage with an .219. Rhoda also contributed defensively adding three blocks. Senior Laure Jansen, coming off her historic night where she recorded her 100th service aces and 1000th dig, led the team with 19 digs.
