MTSU defeat Alabama A&M in dominate fashion
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee volleyball defeated Alabama A&M in a dominant fashion, winning three sets to none. The scores of the sets were as follows: 25-17, 28-26 and 25-11.
The Blue Raiders (4-8, 0-0) came into the night in a little bit of a slump, but showed no signs of that in their dominant victory. MTSU outhit the Bulldogs (2-9, 0-0) by almost .300, with the final numbers being Middle Tennessee .337 to Alabama A&M's .076. It was the Blue Raider's second highest hitting percentage of the season in a single match.
The trio of Kiera Booth, Laure Jansen, and Emma Nilson were all over the place tonight. The two middle blockers, Booth and Nilson, combined to have a hitting percentage of a ridiculous .649 on 27 kills. They also added eight blocks between the two of them. Senior Laure Jansen had a great performance of her own, recording an outstanding 6.33 digs/set. To go along with her defensive performance tonight, Jansen also added two service aces.
Following the team's performance tonight, Associate Head Coach Jenna Orner said the following: "Each game we are trying to grow as a team, our passing was more consistent and in the third set we did a really good job of limiting our errors. I'm really proud of the middle blockers for stepping up and establishing themselves tonight."
