Blue Raider Notes
- Middle Tennessee is returning from the Cayman Islands Classic, a MTE featuring George Washington, McNeese and Murray State. The team brought home a strong win over Murray State, falling in tough battles with George Washington and McNeese.
- Torey Alston exploded in the Cayman Islands Classic, earning him All-Tournament Team honors. The redshirt sophomore tallied career-bests with 26 points and 16 rebounds for his third career double-double and his first against a Division I opponent in the opening win over Murray State, also earning him CUSA Player of the Week.
- Alston continued his hot streak in game two against George Washington, scoring 17 points with seven rebounds and a 7-8 mark from the courtesy stripe. Closing out the tournament versus McNeese, he brought down five offensive boards of nine total, tacking on a block and assist as well.
- Under head coach Nick McDevitt, the Blue Raiders have consistently protected the Glass House, with 70 wins in the Murphy Center throughout his tenure.
- Alec Oglesby, who saw time in just three contests a year ago, knocked in 11 three-pointers in the three-game slate in the Caymans, scoring four against both Murray State and George Washington.
- Oglesby's 17 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor and 4-5 from beyond the arc against Murray State was the most for him in a Blue Raider jersey.
- Shooting 51.4 percent from three-point range, Oglesby ranks 15th in Division I in three-point shooting percentage, a mark that is also good for second in the country.
- MTSU's three-point percentage defense also continues to thrive, ranking 29th in the nation at just 27.1 percent, while the team averages the 49th-most three pointers per game in the country with 10.1.
- MTSU's Kamari Lands and UAB's Chance Westry both consider each other good friends, both attending high school in Arizona.
Blazer Notes
- UAB enters the contest sitting at 6-2 overall on the season and an 0-1 mark on the road.
- Jacob Meyer and Chance Westry lead the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game, with Westry also leading the team in steals and assists.
- The Blazers returned just one player from last season's roster, with notable departures including Yaxel Lendeborg, who the Blue Raiders saw earlier this season at No. 7 Michigan.
- The team sits sixth in the nation with 16.0 offensive rebounds per game and seventh with 45.0 rebounds per game.
