SERIES HISTORY
» This marks the third meeting in series history between the Blue Raiders and Screaming Eagles.
» MTSU owns a 2-0 lead over USI in the all-time series.
» The Blue Raiders won the previous meeting 94-72 on Dec. 11, 1993, in Murfreesboro.
BLUE RAIDER NOTES
» MTSU enters the matchup coming off of a 60-51 win over Memphis. Freshman Yu Han Lin led the way with a career-high 20 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal. She was followed by Blair Baugus who posted a 19-points, 14-rebound double-double – her fourth of the year.
» Baugus, one of the most productive freshmen in the nation, was tabbed Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. She put together another standout week, recording 21 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists on 9-of-15 shooting against Belmont, then posting 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds along with three steals and an assist while shooting 5-of-10 from the field and 9-of-12 at the stripe.
» MTSU has enjoyed great success on the road under Head Coach Rick Insell. The Blue Raiders are 181-96 overall on the road under Insell, for a 66 percent winning ledger. Insell's teams are 77-22 on the road in CUSA play (76 percent), and 135-33 (79 percent) in conference road games overall (Sun Belt and CUSA).
» Middle Tennessee is one of only a handful of Division I programs that do not feature a single returning starter on the roster. According to available national data, Santa Clara is the only program in the country bringing in more newcomers while also returning zero starters.
» Senior Alayna Contreras was selected to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. The Minneapolis, Minn., native started all 33 games last year and led UMKC in scoring (17.3 ppg), minutes, field goals made, three-pointers made and free throws made.
» Middle Tennessee was picked third in the CUSA preseason poll. This marks only the sixth time in Rick Insell's 21 seasons — and just the fourth time in CUSA — that the Blue Raiders have not been selected as the preseason favorite.
SCOUTING THE SCREAMING EAGLES
» Southern Indiana enters the matchup with a 5-2, 0-0 OVC record. The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 56-41 road win over ETSU.
» Chloe Gannon leads USI in scoring at 14.7 PPG, while Sophia Loden leads the team in boards (9.0).
» Ali Saunders is dishing at a team-high 4.8 assists per game, Channon Blacher grabbing a team high 3.0 steals per game.
» Southern Indiana was projected fourth in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll. USI finished tied for fourth in the 2024-25 OVC standings.
» As part of the OVC's preseason announcement, senior guard Ali Saunders and junior forward Chloe Gannon represented USI on the OVC's Preseason Players to Watch List.
» Following a three-year reclassification period from Division II to Division I, the 2025-26 season marks the first in which USI is eligible for potential NCAA postseason championship berths. Southern Indiana was granted status as a full-fledged D-I member at the end of June.
