MTSU Game Notes

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Following an electric conference opener Wednesday, the Middle Tennessee men's basketball team will look to complete its home non-conference slate Sunday with a contest against Cumberland. The game will tip off at 1 p.m. from the Murphy Center, streaming on ESPN+ and the Blue Raider Network.

Series History
The Blue Raiders own a 25-1 all-time series lead over the Phoenix and a 6-0 mark in Murfreesboro. The last time the two faced off was in 2011, a home contest for MTSU who won 88-48.

Blue Raider Notes

After opening league play on the road last season, the Blue Raiders began conference play at home this season, earning a 68-67 victory over Kennesaw State.
Kamari Lands had a career night against the Owls, scoring 24 points and bringing in nine rebounds, both personal bests and team leads.
Torey Alston blocked a career-high six Kennesaw shots, marking the best blocking performance by any Conference USA player this season.
Despite Kennesaw State coming into Wednesday's game averaging 97.2 points per contest, MTSU held the team to just 67 points, 30 less than their season average.
MTSU's three-point percentage defense continues to thrive, ranking 15^th in the nation at just 28.6 percent.
With 1.7 blocks per game this season, Chris Loofe tops the conference, with Torey Alston just behind him averaging 1.3 to rank sixth.
The Blue Raiders rank 24^th in the country, averaging 5.3 blocks per game.
MTSU's Charvez Ambrose and Cumberland's Matthew Stokes both attended Bartlett High School in Memphis, Tenn.
Sean Smith leads the team with a 2.43 assist-to-turnover ratio (6^th in CUSA), with Jahvin Carter just behind him at 2.38 (7^th in CUSA).

Phoenix Notes

Cumberland sits 8-5 on the season, currently riding a two-game losing streak to Crowleys Ridge and Indiana University East.
Triston Conger leads the team with 19.8 points per game, scoring double digits in every contest played this season. He scored a season-high 32 points against St. Ambrose in 40 minutes of play.
Michael Nwoye averages the most rebounds on the team with 9.6 while tallying seven double-doubles on the season. He brought in a season-best 19 boards with 14 points against Brescia in mid-November.
