MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee hits the road for the final time in the regular season with two matches scheduled in the Lone Star State.
Coming off a 4-0 win over Western Kentucky, the Blue Raiders now set their sights on Sam Houston and Rice. They'll face Sam Houston on Friday, followed by Rice on Saturday.
Facing the Bearkats
Before the Conference USA Championship, Middle Tennessee will take on one last conference opponent in Sam Houston. This marks the third meeting between the two programs, with the Blue Raiders holding a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series. MTSU defeated Sam Houston 4-1 in last year's matchup.
The Bearkats enter the match with a 5-9 record and are currently on a two-match losing streak, most recently falling to UTEP, 4-0, on April 6.
First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
Closing Out at Rice
Middle Tennessee wraps up the regular season against No. 43 Rice on Saturday in Houston. The Owls lead the all-time series 2-0, including a 4-0 win in the last meeting between the teams.
Rice brings a strong 15-5 record into the match, with notable wins over Wichita State, FIU, Memphis, and Princeton—each of whom was ranked at the time. The Owls feature a formidable doubles lineup, with two pairs in double-digit wins: Fernanda Martinez and Darya Schwartzman, and Saara Orva and Francesca Maguina.
In singles, Martinez stands out with a 19-4 record and will be a player to watch.
Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Houston.
