MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee is back home after a lengthy road trip and will host two matches against No. 28 South Florida and Eastern Illinois.
The Blue Raiders are coming off a comeback win over in-state foe Memphis last weekend, securing a 4-3 victory over the Tigers to close their six-match road trip. The team is eager to return home and play in front of the Blue Raider faithful in a tough matchup against USF.
Facing the Bulls
Tomorrows match marks the 12th meeting between these programs, with the teams growing familiar over the past four seasons. This will be the fifth consecutive year Middle Tennessee and USF have faced off since 2021. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 6-5 and defeated the Bulls 4-3 last season.
USF is having one of its best seasons in recent years, currently ranked No. 24 in the ITA rankings with an 18-3 record. The Bulls have notable wins over UCF, Penn, Oregon, and Pacific. Hugo Car, ranked No. 48 in the nation in singles, holds a 15-1 record this season. Teammates Toto Llanes, Elija Cham, Agustin Cuellar, and Gughi Verdese also have winning records.
The match is set for 5 p.m. at the MTSU Outdoor Tennis Complex.
Against Eastern Illinois
The match against the Panthers was a late addition after the cancelation of Middle Tennessee's match against San Diego. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Panthers.
Eastern Illinois enters the match with a 6-18 record and is coming off a 7-0 loss to Belmont. The Panthers' bright spots include their doubles pairings. Zach White and Tyler Carlin hold an 8-1 record, while Pieke Bouman and Duarte Trocado are 4-2.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m.
