NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee fell 7-2 to Lipscomb on Tuesday night at Ken Dugan Field, as the Blue Raiders couldn't overcome a string of early runs and missed opportunities at the plate.
Tyler Minnick provided the biggest highlight for MTSU (20-28) with a solo home run in the sixth inning, marking his eighth of the season. The junior also drove in both of the Blue Raiders' runs, plating Jaxon Junnila in the third with a sacrifice fly before his blast to left center three innings later.
Junnila reached base twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, while Eston Snider added a hit, two stolen bases, and a pair of walks. Brett Vondohlen and Brett Rogers each chipped in with singles, but MTSU stranded 10 baserunners on the night and failed to capitalize on several scoring chances.
Starter Jack Fortner took the loss in his first career start after allowing three earned runs over three innings. He was followed by Jonny Stevens, Bryant Beranek and Ethan Imbimbo who combined for the final five innings, allowing just two earned runs.
