Jauregui Scores First Goal as Middle Tennessee Defeats West Georgia, 3-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. —Middle Tennessee (4-1-1) defeated West Georgia (0-5-0) 3-0 Sunday afternoon in the first meeting between the programs.
The Blue Raiders remain unbeaten at home this season, improving to 3-0-1 at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
Senior forward Taijah Fraser opened the scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from senior defender Hannah Delaney. Junior Hannah Murphy added a second goal in the 41st minute, assisted by senior Emma Pettersen and forward Idun Kvaale.
In the 65th minute, midfielder Ximena Jauregui tallied her first goal of the season, with Pettersen picking up her second assist of the match. Goalkeeper Demi Gronauer earned her second shutout of the year, playing all 90 minutes in net.
Head coach Aston Rhoden on the team's progress:
"It's just still a part of the process of preparing for conference play. The next game is about being better than the last game, and that's our big focus."
Jauregui on her first goal of the season:
"I'm just so happy. I was waiting for that moment. I just saw the goal, thought about shooting, and thank God it went in."
