Oglesby tabbed Conference USA Player of the Week

DALLAS – Following a record setting week, Middle Tennessee guard Alec Oglesby was voted Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. The graduate averaged 14.3 points while leading MTSU to a 2-1 record on the week. The award is the first weekly honor for Oglesby and the third for a Blue Raider this season.
Oglesby tallied 12 points against the eighth-ranked Houston Cougars on four made threes, adding a rebound as well. In the first game of the new year, the guard scored a career-best 25 points against LA Tech. He knocked down eight three-pointers, tying for the most of a conference player this season and the second-most in single game program history, and was 4-4 from deep to start his run. As the leading scorer against the Bulldogs, Oglesby was instrumental in Middle Tennessee breaking the single game three-pointers made record with 22, which also is the third most in CUSA history.
Against Sam Houston, he tallied six points and grabbed five steals on Sunday. After getting injured on a play and requiring attention from trainers, he returned to the court shortly after and snatched a steal just six seconds after subbing back in, leading to a layup to regain the lead and eventually the win.
