MTSU Outlasts Louisville in 4-2 Home Win

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team enjoyed a triumphant outing on Friday, securing a 4-2 victory over the University of Louisville and improving its season record to 7-2.
The Blue Raiders kicked off the match by clinching the doubles point, highlighted by a standout performance from the nationally ranked duo of Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak, who dominated with a 6-2 win against Louisville's No. 65 team of Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine.
Following their lead, Eric Crivei and Jonasz Dziopak delivered a commanding 6-1 victory over Louis Chusseau and Andre Steinbach on court two, ensuring the doubles point for Middle Tennessee, despite Louisville taking the final match 6-3 on court three.
In singles play, No. 113 Al-Amin showcased his talent at the No. 2 position, overpowering El Amine with a score of 6-4, 6-1 to give the Blue Raiders an early 2-0 lead. Birtan Duran then widened the gap to 3-0, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 against Jerald Carroll on court six.
Louisville managed to rally with wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, as Ahouda overcame No. 115 Horak with a comeback victory, finishing 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Matei Onofrei also edged out Crivei with a tightly contested match, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, bringing the score to 3-2.
However, it was Freddy Murray who clinched the overall match for Middle Tennessee at the No. 5 position. After losing the first set 3-6 to Russell Lokko, Freddy fought back valiantly, winning the next two sets 6-3, 6-3 to secure the victory for the Blue Raiders 4-2.
Meanwhile, Jonasz was leading his match against Steinbach at No. 3 singles with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 4-2 when play was halted after the clinching victory.
