Middle Tennessee Falls to No.13 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders experienced a setback against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday, losing the doubles point and all six singles matches during their road matchup.
In doubles play, Vanderbilt established an early 1-0 lead by winning the first two matches. In the No. 1 doubles match, Zora Koenig and Sara Conde fell 6-2 to Celia-Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster. Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sthefany Lima also lost 6-2 to Erin Pearce and Valeria Ray in the second doubles match. On court three, Lena Peyer and Zenn Lim were leading 5-3 against Bridget Stammel and Mia Yamakita when that match was called unfinished.
In singles competition, Vanderbilt secured the overall victory with straight-set wins in all matches.
In the No. 1 singles match, Peyer lost to Ray with a score of 7-5, 6-0. Peyer initially trailed 4-2 in the first set but managed to take a 5-4 lead before Ray broke back and took the set 7-5.
Chaphalkar was defeated 6-0, 6-1 by Mia on court two. Lima lost 6-3, 6-1 to Trinetra Vijayakumar on court three, while Koenig fell 6-2, 6-0 to Pearce at court four. Sadbaroy Kholdarova was defeated 6-0, 6-1 by Sophia Wesbter at court five, and on court six, Lim lost to Sonya Macavei with scores of 6-0, 6-4. In the second set, Lim fought to tie it at 4-4, but Macavei went on a two-game run to secure the win with a final score of 6-4.
