Middle Tennessee Earns First Home Victory with 7-0 Sweep

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders earned its first home victory of the season Saturday afternoon, sweeping Bellarmine Knights 7-0 at the Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. After Bellarmine took court one 6-4, senior Rutuja Chaphalkar and freshman Sthefany Lima answered with a 6-3 victory on court two, breaking early for a 3-1 lead and maintaining control. Zenn Lim and Lena Peyer clinched the point on court three, using a mid-set break to build a 4-2 advantage before closing out a 6-3 win.
On court six, Lim quickly had a 4-0 lead and achieved a decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory. Sara Conde followed on court four, securing a steady 6-4, 6-4 win by breaking late in both sets for a sustainable lead. This put MTSU ahead 3-0 in the match.
Zora Koenig dominated court two, winning the first set 6-3 after an early break. In the second set, she maintained her advantage in a tiebreak, going ahead 5-2 and finishing it 7-3. Lima contributed another straight-set victory on court three, breaking twice in the second set for a final score of 6-3, 6-2. This extended MTSU's lead to 5-0 with two courts still winning.
On court one, Peyer engaged in a competitive first set on court one, winning a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4) before breaking for 5-4 in the second and serving out the match 6-4. MTSU's lead increased to 6-0.
The final point came from court five, where Sadbaroy Kholdarova faced a challenging three-set match. After winning the first set 7-5 with a late break, she dropped the second 7-5 but responded in the decisive 10-point match tiebreak. Kholdarova wins it 12-10, securing a 7-0 victory for Middle Tennessee.
