Middle Tennessee Stays Hot with Wins Over Tulane and Tennessee State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee swept a doubleheader at the Outdoor Tennis Complex, defeating Tulane 5-2 and Tennessee State 6-1.
In the opener against Tulane, the Blue Raiders dropped the doubles point after losses on courts one and two, despite a win from Ondrej Horak and Antoine Mayoral on court three, 6-3.
Middle Tennessee responded in singles, winning five of six matches to secure the comeback victory.
Senior Karim Al-Amin started the day with a win on court two, defeating Hady ElKordy 6-2, 6-3. In the first set, Al-Amin went on a 5-0 run before ElKordy took the next two games, but Al-Amin closed out the set 6-2. In the second set, Tulane closed the gap to 4-3, but the Blue Raider won the next two games to secure the match.
Sophomore Eric Crivei followed on court, defeating Lance Nisbet 6-2, 7-5. In the first set, the Canadian native won the first two games before Nisbet took the third. Crivei then went on a 3-0 run to extend his lead to 5-1, and after Nisbet won another game to make it 5-2, Crivei closed the set 6-2. The second set was a different story, as Crivei fell behind 4-1 before going on a 4-0 run to take a 5-4 lead. Nisbet tied it 5-5, but Crivei took the final two games to clinch the match.
Horak defeated Asaf Friedler 6-2, 6-3. In the first set, the score was tied 1-1 before Horak went on a 3-0 run to lead 4-1. Friedler won another game to make it 4-2, but Horak closed the set by winning the next two games. In the second set, there were three ties, with the score even at 3-3, before Horak won the final three games.
Birtan Duran earned a third-set victory over Alec Gaudin. After being shut out in the first set, Duran took control in the second set, building an early 3-2 lead before extending it to 5-2. Gaudin closed the gap to 5-3, but the Turkish native won the next game to take the set 6-3. In the third set, Duran dominated, dropping just one game in a 6-1 finish. With the win, MTSU led 4-1.
Freddy Murray defeated Andres Delgadillo 7-5, 6-3. Down 3-0 in the first set, Murray rallied to tie it 3-3. The set was tied two more times at 4-4 and 5-5 before Murray won the final two games. In the second set, the match was tied 3-3 before Murray went on a three-game run to close out the match.
Piotr Andrzejewski defeated Jonasz Dziopak 7-5, 7-6. The first set featured four ties, with the score level at 5-5 before Tulane won the last two games. In the second set, Dziopak fell behind 5-0 before going on a five-game streak to tie it 5-5. After another tie at 6-6, Andrzejewski took the tiebreak 7-5.
In the second match of the day, Middle Tennessee fell behind again after losing the doubles point to Tennessee State. Horak and Mayoral picked up the lone doubles win for the Blue Raiders.
The momentum shifted quickly in singles, where Middle Tennessee dominated across all six courts. Horak and Al-Amin earned wins at the top of the lineup, while Duran, Jonasz Dziopak, Murray, and Crivei completed the sweep to seal the 6-1 victory.
