Middle Tennessee Splits Sunday Doubleheader

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee split a Sunday doubleheader, losing 4-3 to No. 27 Pepperdine before finishing the day with a 4-0 win over Southern Indiana.
Pepperdine ended the Blue Raiders' 12-game home winning streak and their 6-game overall winning streak.
In the match against No. 27 Pepperdine, the Waves took an early lead in doubles, winning on courts three and two. Maxi Homberg and Gustavo Almeida defeated Houston Jacques and Antoine Mayoral 6-1 on court three, while Edward Winter and Hugh Winter beat Eric Crivei and Jonasz Dziopak 6-3 on court two to secure the doubles point.
Pepperdine extended their lead to 2-0 when Homberg beat Dziopak 6-1, 6-2 on court four.
The Blue Raiders grabbed their first point when Al-Amin defeated No. 100 Poertner 6-2, 6-3, making the score 2-1.
The Waves pushed their lead to 3-1 as No. 124 Pisaric beat junior Birtan Duran 6-3, 6-4 on court three, ending Duran's singles winning streak. Middle Tennessee responded, with Freddy Murray winning 6-3, 6-4 against Gustavo Almeida on court five, narrowing the score to 2-3.
On court one, Horak came back after losing the first set to beat Edward Winter 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, tying the overall match at 3-3.
The deciding point came on court six, where David Fix overcame Crivei 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, clinching the match for Pepperdine. Crivei won the first set but lost the next two.
In the match against Southern Indiana, Al-Amin and Horak won 6-1 against Aaron Dawson and Jy Hibbert on court one in doubles, and Jacques and Mayoral followed with a 6-2 win over Mathys Bove and Adam Koon on court three to secure the doubles point. Al-Amin also won in singles, defeating Axel Sabourin 7-5, 6-1 on court one, giving MTSU a 2-0 lead in the match.
Freshman Rich LaLance contributed to the Blue Raiders' run with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jy Hibbert on court four, bringing the team's lead to 3-0.
The decisive match took place on court five, where Mayoral triumphed over Adam Koon, 6-1, 6-1, securing a 4-0 victory for the Blue Raiders.
Matches on courts two, three, and six remained unfinished after the clinch, with Duran, Jonasz Dziopak, and Jacques each leading in their respective second sets.
