Horn's return not enough as Blue Raiders drop to FIU

MIAMI- Middle Tennessee baseball (24-27, 11-16 CUSA) fell in the series finale to Conference USA opponent FIU (17-34, 8-19 CUSA) 10-2 Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders found some headlines on the hill, as redshirt junior right-hander Drew Horn made his return to the mound after being sidelined for six weeks.
Horn (L, 2-1) tossed 2.0 innings of three-run ball while striking out three batters.
The Blue Raiders offense came courtesy of two solo home runs. Cooper Clapp hit his second in as many days with a shot out to right-center in the top of the fourth.
Tyler Minnick added the tenth bomb of his senior campaign in the top of the ninth, capping off a three-hit day.
FIU strung together two runs in the third, and four runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 9-1 after four. The Blue Raider bullpen silenced the opposing bats from the sixth inning on, with John Michael Pickens, Mason Dobbs, Colin Kerrigan and Cole Cates combining for 3.2 innings of one-hit baseball.
