Women's Soccer to welcome Lipscomb Sunday night

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team will play out the second leg of its three match homestand when it hosts local rivals Lipscomb on Sunday night at 6 p.m.
The Blue Raiders (4-0-1) will look to stay unbeaten against the Bisons (2-1-1) in what would mark their best start in program history. MTSU has only ever stayed unbeaten through five matches in 1999 and 2006, starting the season with five wins from five before falling in the sixth match on both times of asking.

Sunday night's matinee will mark the 13th meeting between the Blue Raiders and Bisons, with the Nashville side claiming victory, 1-0, in the most recent contest on Sept. 4, 2025 at Lipscomb. The Blue and White hold a 6-3-2 series lead in the all-time series, and will look to improve upon its 3-1-2 home record against the Bisons.
Scouting the Bisons
MTSU continues its homestand against the local Lipscomb Bisons, who finished 15-6-2 (7-2-1 ASUN) and in first in the ASUN Gold Division standings in 2025.
Lipscomb concluded its 2025 season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, falling 0-1 to eventual national runner-up Florida State.
The 2025 ASUN Tournament champions were picked to finish second in the 2026 ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Bisons are led by first-year head coach Kathleen Paulsen, who arrives after 13 seasons at NAIA school John Brown, where she made back-to-back NAIA Elite Eight appearances in 2024 and 2025.

- With her goal against Miami (OH) on Thursday, Ania Denham is now the first Blue Raider to score in successive matches since Emma Pettersen against UTEP (Oct. 19, 2025) and Kennesaw State (Oct. 25, 2025), and the first freshman Blue Raider to score in consecutive games since Lexi Dendis against North Alabama (Aug. 29, 2024) and Bellarmine (Sept. 1, 2024).
- Junior goalkeeper Demi Gronauer received CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Aug. 25 for her two clean sheets against UT Martin and West Georgia, the second individual honor of her career and the second for an MTSU player this season.
- Sophomore defender Scottie Newton took home CUSA Defender of the Week honors on Aug. 18 after playing 174 minutes and helping her team to notch two clean sheets and the face fewest shots by any CUSA team (13) through its first two matches.
- Sophomore defender/midfielder Charli Dunn was recently called up to represent the New Zealand U-20 National Team at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland from Sept. 5-27, where she will begin with group stage matches against Italy, the United States, and Japan.
