Women's Soccer to conclude non-conference slate with trip to Jackson State Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team will complete its 10-game non-conference schedule on Sunday when it travels to Jackson, Miss. to take on Jackson State at 1 p.m.
The Blue Raiders (7-1-2) will meet the SWAC regular season title-holders in the Tigers (2-6-0) as they cap off their most successful non-conference slate in program history.
Quick Kicks
- MTSU's victory against Tennessee Tech was its seventh of the season and marked the most in program history at this point in the season.
- Now sitting at 7-1-2, the Blue and White have achieved their highest non-conference win total in program history and have won three straight games for the first time since Nov. 2, 2025, when they defeated FIU (1-0) after taking down UTEP (Oct. 16, 4-0) and Kennesaw St. (Oct. 19, 1-0) consecutively.
- Ania Denham's three-match scoring streak is the first for an MTSU player since Emma Pettersen in the most recent three-match winning streak.
- Denham's sixth goal of the season last time out now sees her lead the nation outright in game-winning goals with five.
- The Welsh forward continues to lead MTSU's scoring charts, having scored six goals and provided a further assist in her debut season.
- Junior Valentina Navetta scored her first career goal on Sunday, a strike that was nominated to TopDrawerSoccer's top five college goals of the week for week five.
- Hailey Phillips received an honorable mention to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week after scoring her first career brace against Evansville on Sept. 10.
- Junior goalkeeper Demi Gronauer received CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Aug. 25 for her two clean sheets against UT Martin and West Georgia, the second individual honor of her career and the second for an MTSU player this season.
- Sophomore defender Scottie Newton took home CUSA Defender of the Week honors on Aug. 18 after playing 174 minutes and helping her team to notch two clean sheets and face the fewest shots by any CUSA team (13) through its first two matches.
- Sophomore defender/midfielder Charli Dunn recently concluded her stint with the New Zealand U-20 National Team at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland, starting the final match of the Ferns' tournament against the United States.
Series History
The Blue Raiders and Tigers will meet for just the third time in program history, where MTSU will hope to stay perfect and advance the series to a 3-0-0 advantage. The teams most recently met in Murfreesboro on Aug. 17, 2025, with MTSU coming out on top 3-0, in part thanks to a brace from Alli Craig.
Scouting the Tigers
Middle Tennessee concludes its non-conference slate on Sunday at Jackson State, which went 9-7-3 and claimed the SWAC regular-season championship.
The Tigers ended their 2025 season coming up just short of a SWAC tournament title, falling 2-1 in the final to Grambling State.
In net for JSU is Taylor Osborn, who was voted SWAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year for her .860 save percentage and eight shutouts.
The Tigers are led by 8th-year head coach Dr. Ted Flogaites, who is the winningest coach in JSU program history.
