LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team lost its weekend closer 3-1 to Liberty Saturday.

MTSU (10-4, 1-1 Conference USA) broke a streak of six-straight wins in the loss. The Blue Raiders start is still the best start the team has had since 2022.

"Today was a tough match — Liberty played very clean volleyball and we didn't do a good job shutting their offense down," head coach Alexa Keckler said. "Our team continues to grow and develop and hopefully this match will help us learn how to be a bit better."

Sophia Henry continued her run of form, posting 15 kills. Michaela Dlouhá followed with 14 kills and Gabrielle Clinkscale had eight.

Marianne Garcia had 12 digs on the day, Henry had eight and Caroline Macander posted seven.

The Flames (9-5, 1-1) took the first set 25-19. The hosts kept their momentum and won the second set 25-15 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

MTSU got one back in the third set, winning 25-13. Dlouhá scored the set-winning kill.

Still trailing 2-1 in the match, the same point the Blue Raiders were at Friday, Liberty closed the match, winning 25-15 to clinch a weekend split.

Notes

--MTSU falls to 6-4 all-time versus Liberty.

--The Blue Raiders are now 2-3 on the road in 2026.

--Ellie Watts picked up a career-high two aces in the match.

--Dlouhá hit .400 on the day, her season best mark.
