Cross Country takes home first and second place at Memphis Twilight Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee cross country teams opened their season Saturday night at the Memphis Twilight Classic, with the Blue Raiders earning first and second place.
The men's team won the meet with a team score of 28 points, while the women's team finished second with 61 points.
On the men's side Allan Kiplagat led the Blue Raiders, crossing the finish line first with a time of 18:54.26 to secure the individual title. Moses Lekokei finished third at 19:17.59, followed by Solomon Sayo in fifth at 19:24.79.
Kelvin Tanui finished seventh with a time of 19:28.91, while Gabe Allen placed 12th at 19:49.52. Mackdonald Songok finished 32nd at 20:30.86, and Juan Lucas De La Fúente placed 45th with a time of 20:51.31.
On the women's side, Evalyne Wambui and Elizabeth Magoma finished first and second, in their first appearances at the Memphis Twilight Classic. Wambui recorded a time of 16:37.71 to earn the individual title and break the previous record of 16:38.79. Magoma followed with a time of 17:20.07
Privillege Chikara placed sixth with a time of 17:40.53. Eleanor Towe finished 22nd at 18:28.73 followed by Hailee Gorham in 34th at 18:55.71. Lauren Cole finished off at 47th with a time of 19:13.31
