Middle Tennessee State University Athletics
MTSU Athletic Media Credential Policy
Media credentials are not transferable and should only be used by media members on specific assignment for a legitimate news organization. Non-working individuals from a media outlet, children, spouses, friends, etc., will not be permitted in the media areas. Violation of this policy will result in immediate revocation of credentials. Issuance of season media credentials does not guarantee working space on press row or in media work areas.
Priority is granted to media entities that cover the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on a regular and substantial basis, which includes coverage of press conferences, open practices, home and road games, and to visiting media members, using the following guidelines:1. Originating radio and television personnel involved in a live television or radio broadcast of a MTSU athletics event.
2. Daily newspapers, wire services, and regional and national publications.
3. Non-originating radio and television personnel. Only local radio stations with a full-time sports director conducting a regular and substantial sports show will receive consideration for credentials.
4. Officially recognized MTSU student publications and electronic media outlets.
5. Non-daily newspapers and other publications.
Due to limited space, credentials will generally not be issued to freelance or amateur writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing by the assigning organization. Unless authorized prior via written consent, the use of any captured content shall be limited to news and editorial coverage only. Requests from these individuals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and granted on a game-by-game basis when space is available at the discretion of the MTSU Athletics Communications Office. Requests from university students who are studying journalism or photojournalism also will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and granted on a game-by-game basis when space is available at the discretion of the Athletics Communications Office.
Credentials will be issued to websites on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Athletics Communications Office. Priority will be given to websites that are affiliated with an accredited media outlet. Websites must have editorial, newsgathering content and not merely sponsor message boards, message centers or chat rooms where people are allowed to post anonymous information. Websites must also have an editorial process or oversight.
Photography (still and video) of MTSU staff, student-athletes, facilities, etc., is for editorial use only.
Real-time rights (audio, video, text) are held by MTSU Athletic Sponsorships, MTSU and Conference USA. The live dissemination of the accounts of Blue Raider athletics via any streaming method, including such applications as Periscope, Meerkat, etc., is prohibited.
All interviews of MTSU student-athletes, coaches, administration and staff must be coordinated through the Athletics Communications Office. Contacting student-athletes directly or through social media networks is prohibited.
Requests for single-game credentials and parking should be emailed from a company email account to the Athletics Communications Office at least 48 hours prior to the event. Space is limited in many of our venues, so credentials will be issued to full-time, salaried journalists from media outlets that cover the Blue Raiders regularly and substantially or to representatives who regularly and customarily perform services for that outlet.
By acceptance of a credential, the bearer agrees to abide by all of the MTSU, Conference USA and NCAA policies and procedures as well as conduct him/herself in a professional and ethical manner. Violation of any of these policies may result in immediate revocation of credentials on a temporary or permanent basis. The MTSU Athletics Communications Office reserves the right to revoke or deny credentials at any time. Use of an old, previously issued credential or a replication of a current credential to gain entry or attempt to gain entry into a MTSU athletic event may result in revocation of current credentials. Issuance of credentials by Blue Raider Athletics does not guarantee credentials at other institutions.
I have read and understand this policy and am responsible for ensuring that those employees and representatives at the business or organization I represent also understand this policy. I understand that violations of this policy may result in the revocation of one or all media credentials for my organization.
