Middle Tennessee hired Adam Wisniewski as Assistant Coach / Pitching Development in Fall 2023.
Wisniewski comes to Murfreesboro from Lincoln Memorial University, where he served as pitching coach in 2023. While with the Harrogate, Tenn. program, he was responsible for organizing the daily pitching philosophies, practice plans, recruiting, and in-game strategy for the pitching staff.
“Wisniewski brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff. He will be instrumental in coordinating and implementing the development of our pitching staff on a daily basis. He connects well with our players and instructs effectively on all levels. Our program will benefit greatly with Adam on staff," said head coach Jerry Meyers.
During his first year with MTSU, Wisniewski helped lead a pair of freshmen arms, Chandler Alderman and Trace Phillips, to All-CUSA Freshman and All-CUSA Second Team selections. Alderman threw the fourth ever no-hitter in MTSU history vs. Liberty on March 23, 2024. The freshman phenom completed the eighth inning shutout with 11 strikeouts to notch the milestone. Phillips tallied the fourth most innings pitched for the Blue Raiders in 2024 while also batting for MTSU. He earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week on May 14, 2024 for going nine innings in two starts, striking out 13 batters only allowing one run.
Before LMU, Wisniewski held the role of Director of Player Development / Baseball Operations at Old Dominion University. While with the Monarchs from 2018-22, he was involved in all aspects of the program, including operations, player development and recruiting. Wisniewski assisted with organizing the daily pitching philosophies, practice plans and in-game strategy for the ODU pitching staff.
He also oversaw pitching staffs that averaged 40 wins over a three-year period from 2020-22, including a 44-win team in ’21 which won the CUSA Championship, was seeded No. 11 nationally in the NCAA tournament, and advanced to the Columbia Regional final. Wisniewski assisted in developing 10 All-Conference pitchers and six MLB draft selections in his five years in Norfolk, Va.
Before his time at ODU, Wisniewski was the head coach of high school travel program Old Dominion Hitters in Norfolk. He entered the coaching ranks after a professional baseball stint with the Frontier League’s Evansville Otters from 2011-12.
Wisniewski is a 2012 graduate from Old Dominion, where he played for the Monarchs from 2010-11 after transferring from Louisburg College. While serving as a member of the ODU pitching staff, Wisniewski was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team and was a NCBWA National Stopper of the Year Finalist in 2011, while setting the ODU single-season record for saves with 15.
