Middle Tennessee hired Ryan Huber as Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator in Fall 2023.
“Huber will be a great addition to our program in many ways. He’s an outstanding coach and communicator that has a great feel for the game. He is an excellent evaluator of talent and has recruited student-athletes at a high level. He’ll play a big role on our staff and we’re excited to have him on board," said head coach Jerry Meyers.
Huber comes to Murfreesboro from the University of Memphis, where he served as assistant coach as well as catching, infield and camp coordinator.
In his four seasons with the Tigers, he guided a defense which consistently ranked at or near the top of the American Athletic Conference in fielding percentage. In 2023, Huber oversaw the development of two new first baseman in Shane Cox and Anthony Hansen, with Cox compiling a 1.000 fielding percentage and Hansen following closely at .996.
The Tigers had a .975 fielding percentage as a team in 2022, which was the second-best in program history. Huber also guided 1B Jacob Compton to First Team All-AAC honors.
Huber was instrumental in the development of C Hunter Goodman in 2021, who was a preseason First Team All-American, Second Team All-American and fourth round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies.
Before his time at Memphis, Huber served as assistant coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College from 2018-19, where he oversaw three infielders claim TCCAA Gold Glove honors. Huber was also a travel baseball coach at Memphis Baseball Academy from 2016-19.
Huber played two years at Motlow State Community College from 2011-12. After a year at Freed-Hardeman University in 2013, he finished his collegiate playing career at Bethel University in 2014.
