2002-03 (Senior)
Fall: Was 3-4 in singles in the fall season ... Won twice at the Doctor's Vision Center Tournament against Charlotte and Charleston ... Took the victory in the first round at the Furman Invitational over Richele LeSaldo from Clemson, 6-0, 6-1 ... Had a doubles mark of 3-1 with partner Carien Venter, with all results coming at the Doctor's Vision Center Tournament ... Was 4-2 with partner Manon Kruse, winning twice at the Furman Invitational and two more times at the All-Americas.
Spring: Had a singles record of 10-11 in her final dual match season ... Bounced back from three consecutive losses to open the season with a win over APSU's Nicki Tafolla, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 4 spot in the lineup ... Earned a three set victory at Marshall ... Next two victories were consecutive and came against Mississippi State and Georgia Tech, both in straight sets ... Season-best win streak of five matches came against opponents from Louisville, Georgia State, FAU, FIU and Murray State ... Fall: Ended the fall season with a 7-5 record in singles play ... Shared the Flight C touranment title at the Doctor's Vision Center Invitational at UNC-Wilmington with teammate Tanja Buchheim ... Won opening qualifying round at the ITA Southeast Regional with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kristen Nichols of North Carolina State, but lost to Medina Barjrambasic of Coastal Carolina 7-6 (7-1), 1-6, 2-6 in the second round ... Varnell and doubles partner Manon Kruse ended the fall with a 11-2 record ... Won flight one doubles at Doctor's Vision Center at UNC-Wilmington and Furman Fall Classic ... Went 1-1 against ranked opponents this fall with a 8-2 win over No. 8th ranked Kathy Boyanovich and Jennifer Radman of South Carolina and lost to No. 10 Carolina Mayorga and Sarah Witten of Kentucky ... Varnell and Kruse were seeded 7th at the ITA Southeast Regional ... Won two matches at regional tournament before falling to Julie Deroo and Kelly McCain of Duke.
2000-01 (Sophomore)
Fall: Played in the finals of the Indiana Fall Invitational in doubles with Manon Kruse...Record of 7-7 in doubles...Accumulated a 6-7 record in singles.
Spring: In doubles action, led the team in individual wins with a record of 19-14 and a .575 winning percentage ... Named to the All-Sun Belt Confernce team in doubles with partner Manon Kruse ... The duo of Varnell and Kruse posted a 14-10 record that included wins over No. 46 ranked Vanderbilt and No. 29th ranked UAB ... Played at the No. 5 and No. 6 position in singles and posted a record of 8-14 ... Found success at home with a home match record in singles play of 5-1.
1999-00 (Freshman)
Fall: Injuries limited Varnell's competition...Forced to default her first collegiate match due to injury and the subsequent two matches...Played two doubles matches with a 1-1 record.
Spring: Got her first collegiate singles win against Stephanie Moat of Rice...Put together a five-match win streak from 2/20 to 3/9...Ended the season by winning four straight matches...Had a phenomenal freshman season in doubles partnering with Sarah Grohnert posting a 19-2 record...Duo was 6-0 in the OVC...Varnell posted overall doubles record of 20-4.
High School: Played at Sprayberry High School where she lettered four years...Played as the number one seed from 1997-99...Team MVP...Three-time All-County...13-1 record her senior year...
