Lady Raiders Come Back For 3-2 Win

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore KeKe Deckard tallied her 10th double-double of the season, as Middle Tennessee overcame a two-game deficit, winning the final three games to end a three-match losing streak and defeat Arkansas State, 3-2, in volleyball action Sunday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Gym.
The Lady Raiders (10-7, 1-3 Sun Belt) lost the first two games, 22-30, 26-30, to the visiting Indians, as ASU had a .289 and .174 hitting
percentage in the first two games, respectively. But the Lady Raiders picked it up in the final three games, hitting .234, .182 and .259 to take the final three games, 33-31, 30-26, 15-13.
Deckard led four Lady Raiders in double figure kills with 19, followed by 18 from Dara McLean, 16 by Katie Thiesen and 10 from Karisse Baker. Deckard added 20 digs, while Thiesen and Kelly Cannon added 12 apiece. Jennifer Hignite had four service aces for the winners, while Kelly Cannon had 45 assists.
Caitlyn Mitchell led the Indians (6-9, 1-1 SBC) with 17 kills and 19 digs, followed by Tessa Millikan with 10 kills and 20 digs. Miranda Griffin and Heather Malaschak each had 14 kills, and Lesli Elkins added 10, with Tristan Erford added 53 assists and 13 digs, and Denay Oesterblad had 10 digs.
The Lady Raiders host UAB Tuesday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Florida International next weekend for their next conference match.
