Lady Raiders Place Second in Home Tourney

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (2-2) placed second in their home tournament after defeating Chicago State 3-1 in the final match of the night in Alumni Gym.
Senior Erin Hillstrom registered a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs, while Dara McLean and Jennifer Hignite each recorded nine kills. Hignite was named to the all-tournament team for her strong performance overall in the tournament.
Purdue University won the tournament going undefeated, Evansville placed third, Western Carolina fourth and Chicago State was fifth.
Middle Tennessee fell in the afternoon game to Evansville 3-1. After losing the first games, the Lady Raiders won the third game 30-22, but fell in the fourth game 22-30.
The Lady Raiders were lead by senior Jennifer Hignite who had 11 kills and three block assists. Katie Thiesen was number two in kills on the team with 10 and Erin Hillstrom had 13 digs.
The Lady Raider will be back in action on Wednesday September 4, when Middle Tennessee hosts UT-Chattanooga at 6 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
